Arts and Sandcastle Day in Cannon Beach
Cannon Beach's visitor pages describe the town as one of the top art towns in America and list galleries, museums, performing arts and public art. We do not name individual galleries here. The Cannon Beach Chamber of Commerce keeps the current list on its art galleries page.
Arts festivals
- Stormy Weather Arts Festival. The festival's page lists artist demonstrations, a concert, hands-on workshops, artist receptions and street performers, with "over 50+ events." It lists November 6-8, 2026 as the 39th edition.
- Spring Unveiling Arts Festival. The Chamber lists it among its arts events. Check its page for dates.
The Sandcastle Contest
The Chamber calls it "the first and oldest sandcastle contest in Oregon." It began in 1964, started by four local residents to help the community recover after the Good Friday earthquake tsunami washed out the Elk Creek Bridge. It is held rain or shine on the beach, and the sandcastles are washed away by the evening tide. The Chamber lists the next contest for Saturday, June 12, 2027, within a weekend of June 11-13, 2027.
